Why do we need single payer? Because we don’t have a state or national healthcare plan.
- Millions of people are uninsured
- Half of all bankruptcies are caused by medical debt
- 18,000 people a year die due to lack of health insurance
- U.S. health care outcomes are ranked 37th by the World Health Organization
- The U.S. spends 2-4 times as much money per person as other nations
Right now, we have a broken health care system. We have a monster insurance bureaucracy that wastes at least 31 cents of every health care dollar, but fails to give us health security. The purpose of this monumental bureaucracy is to avoid the sick, deny claims and pass expenses on to others.
The solution is to win legislation for a plan that delivers high-quality health care for all and spends our money wisely. The biggest obstacle to meaningful health care reform is the is the insurance industry.
To win, we need you.
Politicians are offering lots of “universal” health care plans, but the top three questions to ask of any plan are:
- Does the plan deliver better health care to you or deliver more profits to the private insurance industry?
- Does the plan eliminate different levels of of care for different classes of people?
- Does the plan prevent the shift of health care costs from business to working families?
The solution is single payer!
